ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 2. Kazakhstan’s government has been tasked with speeding up the construction of gas processing facilities in Zhanaozen, Kashagan and Karachaganak fields, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced during a joint session of the Parliament, presenting his annual address to the nation, TurkicWorld reports.
"This is a priority task. To ensure the successful development of the sector, effective incentives must be implemented swiftly to guarantee investment returns, including adequate tariffs and wholesale prices. These conditions are crucial for attracting new investments in gas field exploration. Otherwise, it will be impossible to provide the economy with sufficient gas volumes," he stated.
The President drove home the point that the wheels are in motion for the full swing production of polypropylene and polyethylene in Kazakhstan.
"Other promising projects are under development, including the production of butadiene, urea, and terephthalic acid. The modernization of the Central Asia-Center pipeline section, spanning over 800 km, has been completed in record time. Expanding capacities and diversifying gas transportation routes are upcoming tasks. One of the government’s top priorities remains ensuring gas supply to both the population and the economy.
Last year, several gas fields were put into operation, and new gas reserves are planned to be developed, with a total production volume of one billion cubic meters per year. However, until these projects are fully operational, it is essential to rationally allocate gas supplies to the domestic market and carefully manage the transition of heating plants and residential consumers from coal to gas," the President added.
