ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 14. Vietnam is regarded as a major partner of Kazakhstan in Southeast Asia, said President Tokayev during his meeting with a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, TurkicWorld reports
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.
During the conversation, Tokayev noted that Kazakh-Vietnamese relations are currently developing on an upward trajectory. The President called Vietnam a key partner of Kazakhstan in Southeast Asia. He emphasized that Kazakhstan is ready to continue making efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade, economics, investment, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
Nguyen Xuan Thang, for his part, mentioned that the Politburo of the Central Committee and the National Assembly of Vietnam are actively working on implementing the agreements reached at the highest level during the visit of Kazakhstan's President to Vietnam. In his view, the two countries share similar views and successfully cooperate on multilateral platforms, including the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also welcomed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. He emphasized that this document could provide a strong impetus for joint scientific research. Taking the opportunity, the President of Kazakhstan invited the President of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, to visit Kazakhstan next year and to participate in the Astana International Forum.
The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Vietnam reached $610.9 million in the first half of 2023, a 3.5-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
On November 14, 2024, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.
