BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 6. Qatar supports Saudi Arabia’s measures aimed at preserving its sovereignty and security amid the escalating conflict with the Houthis, Ibrahim Sultan Al-Hashmi, media director at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said.
“We support any initiative taken by the countries of the region, including the Mecca Alliance, as long as it aims to achieve stability,” Al-Hashmi told reporters in Doha.
However, he said it was “too early to talk about the possibility of Qatar joining the Mecca Alliance”.
Al-Hashmi also said that “contacts and visits are ongoing with the aim of making progress in the talks between Washington and Tehran”.
“Qatar is open to a visit from the Iranian side to learn about the latest developments regarding the Iranian position,” he added.
