BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1. The average price of diesel in Europe has reached a record high of €2.24 ($2.53) per litre, according to data from the European Commission.
The increase has added to pressure on transport and aviation industries, with European airlines facing fuel supply difficulties alongside significantly higher operating costs.
Gasoline and diesel prices have risen sharply since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran, with disruptions to supply and temporary pauses in refining contributing to higher fuel costs.
The rise in diesel prices is affecting businesses and consumers across European markets, while higher energy costs continue to place additional pressure on transportation and other fuel-intensive sectors.
European airlines are particularly exposed to changes in fuel prices because jet fuel represents a significant component of airline operating costs. Supply constraints can further increase pressure on carriers.
The developments in European fuel markets are being closely watched amid continued uncertainty over regional energy supplies and international oil markets.
