BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister has criticized Israel’s actions in the Palestinian territories during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, saying the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank constitutes a serious violation of international and humanitarian law.
The Saudi minister said Riyadh rejects any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians or alter the existing status of the Palestinian territories.
He also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for a two-state solution, saying its implementation is the way to achieve a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
The minister further raised concerns over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, saying the continued suffering of Palestinians and restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian assistance constitute violations of international law.
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly emphasized the need for international efforts to protect Palestinian rights and support a political process aimed at resolving the conflict.
The remarks were delivered during the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
