Netanyahu says Israel will continue destroying infrastructure in Lebanon

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel will continue destroying infrastructure within what it describes as its “security zone” in Lebanon.

Netanyahu said Israel had achieved a major victory in Lebanon after taking control of Beaufort Castle and the Ali al-Taher ridge, two strategically important positions in southern Lebanon.

In a social media post, the Israeli prime minister stated that Israeli forces would continue targeting and dismantling infrastructure in areas under their control.

Netanyahu and Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz also said on Thursday that Israeli forces would remain in southern Lebanon. According to the Israeli leadership, the continued military presence is intended to prevent Hezbollah from re-establishing its positions and operational capabilities in the area.

Israel has expanded its military presence in southern Lebanon and seized several strategic positions since 2023. The Lebanese government, meanwhile, has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.

The continued Israeli presence and destruction of infrastructure remain a major source of tension between the two countries, amid concerns over further escalation along the border.
