BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. Civil defence teams in Gaza have recovered 106 sets of human remains from beneath the rubble of destroyed homes in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City, according to the Quds News Network.
The recovered remains reportedly include 55 intact bodies. The operation was carried out at the ruins of homes belonging to the Malka, Irheim, Salmi and Balawi families.
The recovery effort comes nearly three years after the beginning of the conflict, with civil defence teams continuing to search areas that were destroyed during Israeli attacks.
Crews are also conducting search operations beneath the remains of the Engineers’ Tower, where around 150 Palestinians are believed to remain buried.
Human Rights Watch has previously described the attack on the site as indiscriminate and unlawful.
The recovery operation highlights the continuing humanitarian consequences of the destruction across Gaza, where large numbers of people remain missing beneath collapsed buildings and rubble.
