BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 24. Chinese President Xi Jinping has said the Palestinian issue remains at the core of the broader Middle East question, calling for a political solution and the resumption of peace negotiations between Palestinians and Israel.
Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Beijing, according to an official summary of the talks broadcast by Chinese state radio.
The Chinese president called for renewed efforts to achieve a political settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and restart peace talks between the two sides.
Xi also reiterated Beijing’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, calling for its early realisation.
His remarks reflect China’s longstanding position that resolving the Palestinian question is essential to achieving broader peace and stability in the Middle East.
Jordan has also consistently backed a two-state solution and the creation of an independent Palestinian state as part of a negotiated settlement.
The talks between Xi and King Abdullah come amid continuing regional tensions and renewed international efforts to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
