BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 24. Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing increasingly difficult conditions as Israeli air strikes continue to hit residential areas, civilian property and makeshift tents being used by displaced families.
Over the past several weeks, there has been a reported intensification of Israeli strikes on homes and temporary shelters, many of which were erected after residents lost their houses during earlier attacks.
In one recent incident, an Israeli strike hit a tent at dawn where two people had been sleeping. The attack left personal belongings and cooking equipment scattered among the damaged shelter.
Shrapnel from the strike also struck nearby walls and other makeshift tents, highlighting the vulnerability of temporary shelters to explosions and flying debris.
The tent had reportedly been built after the family’s home was destroyed, leaving its occupants dependent on basic fabric structures for shelter.
Across Gaza, displaced Palestinians have been attempting to adapt to prolonged displacement by creating temporary living spaces despite continuing security risks.
The damage to makeshift shelters illustrates the precarious conditions facing families who have already lost permanent housing and now have limited protection from further attacks.
Continued Israeli strikes and widespread destruction have made efforts to establish even temporary shelter increasingly difficult for displaced Palestinians in Gaza.
