BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. The death toll from an Israeli attack on the town of Deir ez-Zahrani in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district has risen to four, according to the Lebanese Civil Defence.
Officials initially reported that two people were killed and five others injured in Saturday’s attack.
The Lebanese Civil Defence said one additional body was recovered from the rubble following search and rescue operations. A separate search team also discovered another victim, bringing the confirmed death toll to four.
Rescue teams continued searching the affected area as authorities assessed the damage caused by the strikes.
The latest casualties add to mounting tensions in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces have continued carrying out attacks despite the ceasefire arrangements between Lebanon and Israel.
The incident comes amid continuing disputes over Israel’s military presence in southern Lebanon and demands from Lebanese officials for Israeli forces to withdraw to the international border.
