Lebanon’s Aoun and Salam discuss southern attacks amid ongoing Israeli strikes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam have discussed developments in southern Lebanon, where Israeli attacks continue despite a US-brokered framework agreement that provides for a ceasefire.

According to a statement published by the Lebanese presidency on X, Aoun received Salam to discuss the latest Israeli attacks and the destruction of homes and infrastructure in towns and villages across southern Lebanon.

The two leaders also reviewed the agenda of an upcoming cabinet meeting.

Their discussions included recent talks with US General Joseph Clearfield, head of the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L), which were held in Beirut on Wednesday.

The MCG4L is a trilateral coordination mechanism established under the framework agreement to support its implementation and coordinate security arrangements.
