BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1. Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Rodolph Haykal has reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to defending its territorial integrity, saying the country rejects the continued Israeli presence in parts of southern Lebanon.
During a visit to troops in the Tyre area, Haykal said:
"We believe that every inch of our land is our right, and we reject the continued Israeli occupation of any part of our territory."
According to the Lebanese Army's official X account, the commander also paid tribute to soldiers who had been killed or wounded, saying their sacrifices would not be in vain.
Haykal added that the army would continue to stand by local communities and support the return of displaced residents despite ongoing challenges.
His remarks come amid continued tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border and the presence of Israeli forces in parts of southern Lebanon.
