BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1 The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and strengthening the Lebanese state's authority in the country's south.
In a statement posted on X to mark the 81st anniversary of the Lebanese army, UNIFIL said its long-standing partnership with the LAF contributes to the shared objective of ensuring lasting security and stability in southern Lebanon.
"Our decades-long partnership contributes to the shared goal of lasting security and stability in south Lebanon," the peacekeeping mission said.
UNIFIL also stressed that it remains committed to assisting both parties in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the Trilateral Framework Agreement, which form the basis of security coordination along the Lebanon-Israel border.
The mission reiterated its support for efforts aimed at maintaining stability and reducing tensions in the region.
