BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29. Gaza's Ministry of Health says more than 60,000 children have lost at least one parent since the start of the war in October 2023.
According to a ministry report, 60,737 children have been orphaned or left with the loss of one or both parents. Of those, 52,095 lost their father, 5,929 lost their mother, and 2,713 lost both parents.
The report also states that 2,276 families, comprising 8,858 people, have been "totally wiped out from the civil registry."
The ministry said the overall Palestinian death toll since October 2023 has exceeded 73,000.
It also stated that, despite an October ceasefire agreement, Israeli military operations have continued across Gaza, with more than 1,100 people reported killed since the truce took effect.
Israel has disputed casualty figures published by authorities in Gaza and has rejected accusations of genocide.
