BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 24. US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he does not believe China or Russia are participating in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, but warned that any direct involvement by either country would have serious consequences.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping had assured him during their recent meeting in Beijing that China would not provide or sell weapons to Iran under any circumstances.
"President Xi, at our recent meeting in Beijing, told me that he would not, under any circumstances, give or sell weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran — and that statement included Chinese companies," Trump wrote.
The US president also said Russian President Vladimir Putin had given him similar assurances, stating that Russia would not supply weapons to Iran.
Trump added that, based on those discussions, he believes neither China nor Russia is currently involved in the conflict.
However, he warned that any decision by either country to become directly involved would have serious consequences.
"If they did, it would be very bad for them," Trump said, without providing further details about what actions the United States might take.
The remarks come as tensions surrounding Iran continue to draw international attention, with major powers closely monitoring developments and calling for restraint.
