BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Jordan have strongly condemned Iran’s ongoing attacks, describing them as “a clear act of aggression violating the UN Charter and international law.”
In a joint statement, the countries affirmed their inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, individually or collectively. They called on the UN Security Council to recognize the right of affected countries to defend themselves and to issue a resolution demanding an immediate halt to Iran’s attacks.
The statement also emphasized the commitment to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb, as well as maintaining regional security.
