BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15, Iran’s Parliament Speaker and top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said the country does not welcome war but must remain prepared to defend its national security and interests.
“We must always be prepared for battle and stand firm to protect our national security and interests,” Ghalibaf stated. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of diplomacy: “We must also use the tools of diplomacy and negotiation to achieve and solidify our national interests.”
Ghalibaf clarified that negotiations at this stage do not constitute compromise, but rather complement Iran’s overall strategy of resistance and protection of national interests alongside military preparedness.
He highlighted that Iran’s national security relies on “maintaining Iranian arrangements on the Strait of Hormuz” and affirmed that the Iranian armed forces retain “complete freedom of action as always to confront the enemy’s aggression.”
The remarks reflect Iran’s dual approach of diplomatic engagement and military readiness amid tensions in the Gulf region.
