BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 8, Saudi Arabia's national shipping company, Bahri, has confirmed that its crude oil tanker Wadiyan remains safe after being involved in an incident while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on July 7.
According to the company, all crew members are safe, the vessel remains seaworthy, and its cargo is secure.
The statement was issued after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced air strikes against Iranian targets, saying the operation was carried out in response to attacks on the Wadiyan and two other commercial vessels, M/T Al Rekayyat and M/T Cyprus Prosperity.
CENTCOM said US forces used precision-guided munitions to strike more than 80 targets, including Iranian air defence systems, command-and-control networks, coastal radar sites and anti-ship missile capabilities. The command also said more than 60 fast-attack boats belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy were destroyed during the operation.
Bahri stated that it immediately informed the relevant authorities after the incident and continues to maintain contact with the crew while closely monitoring developments. The company stressed that the safety of its personnel, protection of the marine environment and the safe operation of the tanker remain its highest priorities.
