Russia ready to continue strategic partnership with Iran: Medvedev

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 4. Moscow is ready to continue its strategic partnership with Iran following the war with the United States and Israel, according to Russia’s Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev.

The former Russian president made the remarks in Tehran, where he is leading the Russian delegation at the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Speaking to Tasnim news agency, Medvedev said Iran’s position over the Strait of Hormuz provided it with significant leverage during the conflict, describing it as a major strategic asset.

He also referred to the Strait of Hormuz as “Iran’s nuclear weapon,” highlighting its perceived importance in regional and global energy security.
