UNICEF mourns Gaza youth advocate killed in Israeli strike

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. UNICEF has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the killing of 17-year-old Raghad Ashour, a Youth Champion and advocate for children’s rights in Gaza.

TurkicWorld reports that according to the agency, Ashour was killed by an Israeli strike while walking to sit a high school exam in Gaza City. The strike, which reportedly hit a vehicle in the Remal district, also killed a paramedic and injured four other people.

UNICEF said in a statement that Ashour “believed in protecting children and dreamed of a better future,” adding: “Our hearts are with her family. The endless killing of children must stop.”

The Palestinian Health Ministry stated that at least 1,024 people have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire came into effect on October 11, highlighting continuing violence despite formal truce arrangements.
