Israel’s defence minister says troops will remain in Lebanon security zone

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz has reaffirmed that Israeli forces will continue to occupy the designated “security zone” in southern Lebanon, extending from the coastline to the Beaufort heights.

TurkicWorld reports that in a post on X, Katz paid tribute to four Israeli soldiers recently killed in combat in southern Lebanon and warned that any violations of the ceasefire by Hezbollah would be met with “great force.” He stated, “We will not allow harm to our soldiers and citizens,” underscoring Israel’s commitment to maintaining its military positions along the border.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where clashes with Hezbollah have led to casualties on both sides. Katz’s statement reiterates Israel’s longstanding security policy in the region and signals continued readiness to respond to perceived threats.
