BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has made incendiary remarks following the deaths of four Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon.
TurkicWorld reports that in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ben-Gvir said, “With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not forfeit. All of Lebanon must burn.”
He also reportedly told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in private meetings that “for every tear of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep,” emphasizing that Israel should respond aggressively to threats in the region. Ben-Gvir called for decisive measures to “obliterate” and “crush the terror.”
The remarks have raised concerns internationally, as they appear to advocate extreme retaliatory action following military casualties, heightening tensions in an already volatile region.
Observers note that statements from senior Israeli officials can exacerbate hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon border and complicate diplomatic efforts surrounding the US-Iran agreement and regional de-escalation.
