BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18. Supertankers carrying approximately six million barrels of crude oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz, according to ship-tracking data cited by Reuters.
TurkicWorld reports that the vessels, sailing under the Saudi flag, departed from Saudi ports and marked the largest movement of tankers through the strategic waterway in several weeks, the report said.
The shipments come shortly after US President Donald Trump signed an agreement with Iran aimed at ending the conflict and easing tensions in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime chokepoint for global energy supplies, and recent disruptions have significantly affected oil flows from Gulf producers.
During the period of heightened conflict, Saudi Arabia had increased reliance on its Red Sea export terminal at Yanbu as an alternative route, reducing dependency on the Strait of Hormuz amid security concerns.
The latest tanker movements are being closely watched by energy markets as a possible sign of improving maritime security and a gradual normalization of oil shipping routes in the Gulf.
