BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. Iran and Russia have held high-level discussions on the preliminary agreement between Tehran and Washington, with both sides emphasizing the importance of diplomatic coordination and regional stability.
TurkicWorld reports that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to review the memorandum of understanding reached with the United States.
During the call, Araghchi briefed Lavrov on the details of the agreement and stressed the need for a complete halt to what Tehran describes as Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, Lavrov welcomed the finalisation of the agreement text and expressed Russia’s support for its implementation, signalling Moscow’s backing for continued diplomatic engagement.
Both ministers also called on the international community and the United Nations Security Council to support the memorandum of understanding, highlighting the importance of sustained diplomacy to ensure peace and stability in the region.
The conversation reflects ongoing coordination between Tehran and Moscow on regional security issues, particularly in relation to the evolving Iran-US agreement and the situation in Lebanon.
