BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. Russia has urged “restraint” in the US-Israel war on Iran after Washington and Tehran traded fire in the worst escalation since the April 8 ceasefire.
TurkicWorld reports that “we are extremely concerned about the new round of US-Iranian armed confrontation, which began with the unprovoked US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Maria Zakharova, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, told reporters.
“We call on both sides to exercise restraint and to immediately cease military attacks.”
Russia and Iran are united by their decades-old distrust of US policies in their former stomping grounds of Central Asia, Afghanistan and Iraq. Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasised relations with Tehran are a strategic priority.
