BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. Israel's military said it intercepted a “hostile” drone in southern Lebanon in an area where Israeli forces are deployed.
TurkicWorld reports.that according to the military, the interception took place after warning sirens sounded in the Israeli border community of Hanita near the Lebanese frontier.
The Israeli army did not immediately provide further details regarding the drone's origin or intended target.
The incident comes as Hezbollah is reported to be expanding its use of unmanned aerial systems in the conflict. According to reports, the group has introduced first-person view (FPV) attack drones guided through fibre-optic cables.
Such drones are considered difficult to disrupt through conventional electronic warfare measures because they are not dependent on radio signals and are less vulnerable to jamming technologies.
Security analysts note that the increasing use of low-cost drone systems has become a growing challenge for traditional air defence networks across several conflict zones in the region.
