BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 28. An Israeli strike targeting a motorcycle in the southern city of Tyre killed two people, among them a child, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said through information cited by the National News Agency.
TurkicWorld reports that the victims were identified as Syrian nationals. The attack reportedly occurred near a Lebanese army barracks inside the city.
The National News Agency stated that emergency teams arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion, while security forces launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the strike.
The incident comes amid continuing Israeli military operations across southern Lebanon and rising tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border. In recent weeks, Israeli forces have intensified air strikes targeting areas that Israel says are linked to Hezbollah activities.
No immediate statement was released by the Israeli military regarding the specific attack in Tyre. Lebanese officials have repeatedly warned that continued strikes on populated areas risk worsening the humanitarian and security situation in the country.
The latest incident has further fueled fears of a broader regional escalation as clashes between Israel and Hezbollah continue almost daily.
