Iran executes another man over attack on military site

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 6. Iran has executed a man convicted of an alleged attempt to storm a military site, a day after two others linked to the January incident were put to death TurkicWorld reports via aljazeera.

The Islamic Students News Agency, citing the judiciary, said Ali Fahim was hanged after the Supreme Court upheld his sentence.

Human rights groups, including Amnesty International, have denounced the executions as inhumane and alleged that many of the defendants’ confessions were obtained through torture.

The unrest in January began over economic hardship and evolved into a nationwide upheaval calling for the overthrow of the government. The authorities’ response led to one of the most violent confrontations since the country’s 1979 revolution, with thousands of people killed.
