BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 6. The Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) has condemned a US-Israeli attack on its heavy water facility as a “crime against science and human health” TurkicWorld reports via aljazeera.
“Heavy water & its derivatives are vital for medicine, disease treatment & advanced industries,” it said in a post on X. “Our scientific progress will not be halted, nor will our resolve to serve global peace/health,” it added.
The AEOI did not elaborate further.
The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency said last week that Iran’s Khondab heavy water production plant was hit in an attack on March 27 and that it is no longer operational.
US and Israeli forces also attacked the Natanz nuclear sites earlier in May and have carried out multiple strikes in the vicinity of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, including one on Saturday that killed a security staff member.
