Premier of Germany's Brandenburg has call for peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Baku. Azerbaijan.August 5. Prime Minister of the German federal state of Brandenburg Dietmar Woidke (SPD) has called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. He made this statement at an election event of the Social Democratic Party of Germany in the city of Schwedt, reports TurkicWorld citing RBC.

Woidke noted that fighting has been ongoing in Europe for two and a half years. "I expect the federal government to make all possible diplomatic efforts more quickly. We need these contacts: we must ensure that peace in Europe prevails as soon as possible," Tagesspiegel quoted him as saying.

The publication notes that Brandenburg "traditionally has close ties with Russia."

On June 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined Russia's conditions for starting a peace process with Ukraine. These include the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, international recognition of these regions, and the lifting of sanctions.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Putin's proposal for a ceasefire an ultimatum. Kyiv considers negotiations possible only on the basis of its proposed "peace formula," which includes a return to the 1991 borders and the withdrawal of Russian troops.

Later, on July 21, Zelensky admitted the possibility of negotiations with the Russian president. However, the Ukrainian leader noted that Kyiv must achieve the return of all territories diplomatically through pressure exerted by the West on Moscow.
