BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. Javier Colomina has been appointed as NATO Secretary General's first Special Representative for the Southern Neighborhood, TurkicWorld reports.
"Honoured to be appointed as NATO Secretary General's first Special Representative for the Southern Neighborhood. Looking forward to coordinating and enhancing the visibility of NATO's efforts in the South and to strengthening NATO's partnership with the region," Colomina wrote on his page on X.
Colomina will be responsible for coordinating and enhancing the visibility of NATO’s efforts in the south and will strengthen engagement with partners.
"The Middle East, North Africa, and the Sahel regions are important to our Alliance. Javier Colomina has extensive experience in dealing with NATO partners. His appointment will further strengthen NATO’s important work in the South," said NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg in this regard.
Colomina previously served as the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia.
