BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. Azerbaijan is committed to politically active cooperation with NATO on various issues, Deputy Head of the Military-Political Affairs Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anar Mutallimov said at the "Azerbaijan-NATO Roundtable on Energy Security and Climate Change" as part of the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's accession to NATO's Partnership for Peace Framework Document in Baku, TurkicWorld reports.
Mutallimov highlighted that in 2024, Azerbaijan's gas production is set to hit the ground running at 23 billion cubic meters, with 9 billion cubic meters lined up for a one-way ticket to Europe.
"Azerbaijan is dedicated to enhancing security in Europe. Over the past thirty years, the country has achieved significant progress," he said.
He drove home Azerbaijan's dedication to playing its part in keeping the peace in the Euro-Atlantic neighborhood.
"This includes implementing security sector reforms and fostering reliable partnerships in areas such as environmental sustainability, peace, security, and energy security. For many years, Azerbaijan has served as a bridge between East and West.
Given the growing demands, Azerbaijan will continue to play a vital role in enhancing energy security in the Euro-Atlantic region. Last year, Azerbaijan produced 23 billion cubic meters of gas, with 9 billion cubic meters designated for export to Europe.
As part of its presidency for COP29, Azerbaijan will focus on expanding commitments and increasing targets. As an energy supplier, we can also contribute to environmental safety. We believe these discussions will be productive," the MFA representative added.
