How does Azerbaijan's Kalbajar produce Istisu mineral water?

KALBAJAR, Azerbaijan, October 1. The Istisu mineral water plant has resumed offering consumers water sourced from the esteemed thermal springs of Kalbajar, recognized for their superior quality and health advantages, following a 30-year hiatus, TurkicWorld reports.

Work on the plant, the foundation of which was laid by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on June 26, 2022, was fully completed in 2024.

The Istisu plant features advanced automated water bottling lines and robotic systems for tank management. The German company Krones supplied and installed the production lines. The implementation of advanced technologies enables the plant to produce high-quality mineral water while maintaining its natural properties. The plant has an annual production capacity that surpasses 100 million glass bottles.

The production process at the Istisu plant is entirely automated. Initially, empty bottles are conveyed to the filling apparatus. The system promptly identifies any defects in the glass, including stains, chips, or foreign objects, and subsequently removes the bottle from the production line. Bottles are conveyed from the filling equipment to the labeling machine, followed by the packaging equipment.

On September 2, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of the Istisu mineral water plant in the Kalbajar district.
