BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. On May 21, 2025, during the informal summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Hungary, the decision on Uzbekistan’s accession to the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation was adopted, TurkicWorld reports.
This was announced by the Secretary General of the OTS, Mr. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, at a joint press conference with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Péter Szijjártó.
It should be noted that on November 6, 2024, during the 11th Summit of the OTS Heads of State held in Bishkek, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, declared Uzbekistan’s readiness to join the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation as a full-fledged member.
The Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation was established on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, with the support of the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Türkiye. The Foundation’s Charter was adopted at the Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States held on August 23, 2012, in Bishkek.
The Foundation's mission is to preserve, study, and transmit the rich cultural heritage and centuries-old history of the Turkic world to future generations. The headquarters of the organization is located in Baku, and the current President of the Foundation is Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova (Kazakhstan).
