BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) discussed enhancing cooperation in the digital economy, TurkicWorld reports.
The matter was reviewed during a meeting between Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov with Head of the Office of Markets Development and Public-Private Partnership Cleo Kawawaki, and Mirzo Iskandar Gulamov, Country Operations Head of the Uzbekistan Resident Mission at the ADB.
The meeting focused on increasing public-private partnerships, fostering stronger ties with ADB, and advancing the modernization of the country’s digital infrastructure. The sides also discussed ongoing initiatives in the IT sector, future development plans, tax incentives, and the creation of high-paying technology jobs for the youth.
In addition, the parties explored areas of collaboration in supporting IT education, business startups, and expanding digital services throughout Uzbekistan’s regions. ADB representatives were briefed on the key projects developed by Uzinfocom, the national digital technologies integrator, which plays a pivotal role in accelerating the country’s digital transformation.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan is set to embark on a journey of transformation in the realm of digital health, fueled by the nurturing hands of the German Development Bank (KfW), which will provide the lifeblood of loans and grants to sustain this vital endeavor.
A major milestone of this initiative is the creation of a unified digital health platform, which will serve as the cornerstone of the project.
