President of Uzbekistan proposes to initiate energy dialogue between Central Asia, Germany

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 17. We propose to consider launching an energy dialogue between Central Asian countries and Germany with the participation of energy ministries, corporations, operators, scientific organizations, design institutes, and industry experts, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the second Central Asia-Germany summit, TurkicWorld reports.

"We are interested in preparing a Comprehensive Program for capacity building of specialists in the field of low-carbon economy with the involvement of technical assistance from Germany," he said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also expressed gratitude to Germany for the launch of the second phase of the Green Central Asia program and the assistance provided in the implementation of environmental projects. He added that the country is interested in conducting joint educational programs and scientific exchanges based on the Central Asian University of Environmental Studies and Climate Change, adopting cooperation programs on the introduction of German technologies of rational water use, modernization of irrigation systems, biodiversity conservation, and training of environmental specialists.

"We support and are ready to take an active part in the practical implementation of the German Chancellor's initiative to create the Central Asian Natural Partnership," he emphasized.

To note, the second meeting of the leaders of Central Asian countries and Germany was held in the city of Astana.

In the course of the summit, the issues of further development and deepening of multifaceted cooperation between the countries of the region and Germany were considered.

Meanwhile, special attention was paid to the expansion of practical cooperation in trade and economics, investment, technology, transport and communication, and other priority areas. Joint meetings with the heads of leading German companies and banks were also held.

Following the summit, a joint declaration of the heads of Central Asian states and Germany was adopted.
