Uzbekistan, Russia discuss developing bilateral co-op in various areas

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 15. Uzbekistan and Russia discussed the key issues of dynamically developing bilateral cooperation in various areas, TurkicWorld reports.

The matter was reviewed during a telephone conversation between the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Both parties discussed topical issues on the international and regional agenda, given Russia's current chairmanship of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).

The sides reaffirmed their determination to go the extra mile to strengthen the relations of alliance and strategic partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover volume with Russia amounted to $5.7 billion from January through June 2024. This figure is 29.5 percent higher year-on-year ($4.4 billion in January–June 2023).

Russia ranked second among the countries with the largest volume of foreign trade turnover in Uzbekistan. The country’s share in the total volume of trade turnover in Uzbekistan accounts for 18.1 percent.
