Samarkand hosts a conference of the Eurasian SDI initiative

Uza. Samarkand hosts a conference of the Eurasian SDI initiative, organized by the Cadastre Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event is attended by about forty representatives of cadastral institutions and land resource organizations – permanent participants of the initiative – from the Republic of Korea, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan, as well as specialists from Russia and Türkiye.

At the conference’s opening, First Deputy Director of the Cadastre Agency A. Allaberganov, Director of the National Geographic Information Institute of the Republic of Korea Cho Woo-Sug, touched on the event’s main topic and the expected results.

Eurasia SDI was established in 2015 at the initiative of the Republic of Korea. It consists of seven permanent member countries. The main goal is the transfer of knowledge and exchange of experience with developing countries for the development of geographic information systems and spatial data, as well as cooperation in this direction.

The participants discussed the current state of the formation of geospatial data from the participating countries of the Eurasia SDI. Representatives of Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Mongolia, and the Republic of Korea presented the current state of spatial data infrastructure and its prospects.

Views were exchanged on using geospatial data in land use, cartography, and other areas.
