Samarkand hosts International Congress on Uzbekistan’s Cultural Legacy

Uza. The 7th International Congress “The Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan: The Foundation of a New Renaissance”, organized by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan is being held at the “Silk Road Samarkand” Tourist Complex.

The International Congress began with a meeting of the Scientific Council and a meeting of the Board of the World Society.

“The World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan was established thanks to the open policy implemented by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev aimed at studying, preserving and popularizing the cultural heritage of the Uzbek people, as well as with his direct support”, said the Chairman of the Board of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov. – This project was created to collect information about works of art and culture that were created in our country and are currently, for various reasons, stored in large libraries and museums around the world, as well as private collections. Over the past period, with the support of hundreds of scientists, domestic and international experts, and specialists, 60 volumes of book albums about our unique cultural heritage stored in different countries of the world have been published from the series “Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in the Collections of the World”. At this year’s congress, 10 new book albums from this series (volumes 61-70) will be presented. More than a dozen of our publishing projects will also be presented. A tremendous amount of work has been carried out. It is gratifying that today, with the support of our government and sponsoring organizations, as well as thanks to the research of our scientists, we have the opportunity to study unique sources and present them to our people and the whole world as the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.

About 120 scientific reports will be heard at the international conferences as part of the congress.

More than 300 historians, textual and source scholars, museum employees, and representatives of the scientific community from about 40 countries are attending the congress.
