ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 4. Turkmenistan and the EU have discussed the launch of the GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) project "European Union for Turkmenistan's Green Development: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024-2028," TurkicWorld reports via Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry.
The project was discussed at a meeting between Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and European Union Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen.
According to the information, the parties underscored the significance of the GIZ initiative, the principal German development agency. The project, part of the Team Europe initiative addressing water, energy, and climate change in Central Asia, seeks to assist Turkmenistan in advancing green sustainable development by integrating foreign expertise and EU standards.
Furthermore, opportunities for cooperation in the fields of digital communications and water management were discussed. Commissioner Urpilainen noted the high efficiency of the "Team Europe" program in the field of digital integration and confirmed readiness to intensify cooperation with Turkmenistan.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on bilateral and regional programs covering trade and business development, education, health, energy, and law enforcement capacity building.
