ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 11. Turkmenistan and the EU discussed the possibilities of further strengthening cooperation between the EU and Turkmenistan in the field of transport, TurkicWorld reports.
According to the Turkmen Embassy in Belgium, these possibilities were discussed during a meeting between Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov and Hors Classe Adviser, Directorate-General for International Partnerships at the European Commission Henrik Hololei, Director of DG INTPA Peteris Ustubs, and Deputy Head of Division for Central Asia, EEAS Andrea Rossi.
During the meeting, the parties noted significant progress in interregional cooperation between the EU and Central Asia in the field of transport and stressed Turkmenistan's active position in this direction.
An important topic of discussion between them was the upcoming meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the EU and Central Asia, which will be held in Turkmenistan, the main purpose of which is to launch a high-level platform - the EU-Central Asia coordination platform in the field of transport.
The parties stressed that it is expected that this initiative will contribute to the development of transport infrastructure and improve logistics links between the regions, which in turn will strengthen economic and trade ties between the EU and the countries of Central Asia.
Meanwhile, the development of transport cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union (EU) is an important aspect of the economic and geopolitical strategy of both sides.
Joint projects such as the development of transport infrastructure, railways, and highways, as well as cooperation in the field of logistics, emphasize mutual benefits and strengthen political and economic ties between Turkmenistan and the EU.
