ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 8. A document signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the departments of Turkmenistan and the UN Resident Coordinator Office, the UNDP representative office in Turkmenistan, TurkicWorld reports.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the event, four documents were signed, sealing the deal on cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN in a multitude of fields.:
- joint policy document "Strengthening integrated and coordinated employment and social protection systems for a fair transition by 2030" between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan and the Office of the UN Permanent Coordinator in Turkmenistan;
- amendment to the project document "Capacity Building for the Central Commission for Holding Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan" between the Central Commission for Holding Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan and the UNDP office in Turkmenistan;
- addendum to the project document "Strengthening national capacity for seismic risk assessment, prevention and response to potential earthquakes of Turkmenistan" between the Institute of Seismology and Atmospheric Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the UNDP office in Turkmenistan;
- the work plan for 2024–2025: Enhancing the Capacity of the Board of Lawyers in Turkmenistan in Ensuring Human Rights between the Presidium of the Bar Association of the city of Ashgabat and the UNDP representative office in Turkmenistan.
Meanwhile, recently, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Secretary General of the UN António Guterres held a meeting during which they discussed issues of further development of partnership in various areas.
The meeting took place in Ashgabat, both in a small-scale and large-scale format, with the involvement of delegation members.
