BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 7, US President Donald Trump has praised Türkiye, calling it a “great ally” of the United States.
Speaking about regional developments, Trump said Türkiye knows Iran “very well” and has played an important role in efforts to address the situation in the region.
The US president also described Türkiye as a powerful military country, noting that Ankara could have become involved in the conflict but chose not to do so.
“They are a very powerful military nation, they didn’t do that. Maybe they didn’t do that because of me. But they could have gotten into the fight on the other side,” Trump said.
Trump added that Türkiye has been “very instrumental” in helping manage the regional situation.
