BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. The international exhibition “The Mystery of the Azure Dome”, prepared by Kazakhstan’s “Azret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, opened at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan in Baku on September 30, 2026.
The exhibition is dedicated to the historical and cultural legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and forms part of ongoing efforts to study, preserve and promote his heritage in Kazakhstan and abroad.
The project is being held with the support of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Culture and Information, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. The initiative is aimed at strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation and promoting the shared heritage of Turkic peoples.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Academician Naila Valikhanli, Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan; Sabina Hajiyeva, Head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture; Yerlan Dakenov, Director of the “Azret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve; as well as representatives of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Leyla Hasanova and Maksat Argynbekov.
Following the official ceremony, guests viewed the exhibition, which presents elements of the historical and cultural heritage of ancient Turkistan and the architecture of the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.
The exposition includes models of the mausoleum, original tiles and architectural fragments dating from the 12th to 14th centuries, as well as rare examples of Kufic calligraphy.
Manuscripts and historical documents reflecting Yasawi’s spiritual legacy are also displayed, including materials concerning his genealogy and the influence of his teachings on Turkic peoples.
The exhibition highlights the cultural connections between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and presents the legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi within the broader historical heritage of the Turkic world.
