Deputy Prime Minister meets with the IFC Director for Europe and Central Asia

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev met with the Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Europe and Central Asia Wiebke Schloemer.

The parties discussed the implementation of current joint projects and prospects for enhancing collaboration, the developing of new investment initiatives.

According to Uzbekistan MIFT, IFC’s current portfolio includes 28 investment projects worth $480 million in banking, finance, energy, textile, food, chemical, furniture industries, small and medium business development.

The Uzbek side expressed gratitude to the IFC leadership for technical assistance in the development of financial markets, support for public-private partnership projects in agribusiness, transport, healthcare and energy, including international tenders for the construction of three solar power plants and a 1,500 megawatt combined cycle power plant in Syrdarya region and three solar power plants in Khorezm, Namangan and Bukhara regions.

The parties also discussed the issues of attracting consulting and technical support from the IFC for the implementation of economic and structural reforms in Uzbekistan.

The format of cooperation within the framework of joint work to ensure gender equality and empower women in Uzbekistan was considered.
