Tajikistan, Kuwait highlight necessity to establish joint investment fund

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 4. Tajikistan and Kuwait highlighted the necessity to establish a joint investment fund, TurkicWorld reports.

This was stated during a meeting between President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Emir of Kuwait Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The sides also emphasized the need to enhance the activities of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission and establish a Business Council to foster collaboration between entrepreneurs from the two countries. They identified the organization of business forums and product exhibitions as mutually beneficial initiatives.

Rahmon expressed gratitude for the contributions of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) in financing key projects in Tajikistan, particularly in road construction, energy, and irrigation.

Furthermore, the discussions included attracting investments from Kuwait for joint projects in light industry, food production, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. Additionally, the countries recognized the potential for cooperation in tourism, science, education, and healthcare.

In closing, Rahmon extended an invitation to the Emir of Kuwait to visit Tajikistan at a convenient time.

Rahmon is currently in Kuwait for an official visit and to participate in the High-Level Conference on "Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms – The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process," which is being held in Kuwait city from November 4 to 5, 2024.
