Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to boost horse breeding cooperation

ASHGABAT, TurkicWorld— The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan, Gismat Gozalov, met with the Rector of the International Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Academy, Pygy Bayramdurdyyev. The parties highlighted that reverence for the horse is a hallmark of national traditions in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, playing a vital role in both equestrian sports and the preservation of tangible cultural heritage.

Joint demonstration program in 2026

A key highlight of the discussions was the agreement to organize a performance by Turkmenistan’s renowned Galkynysh horse group in Azerbaijan in 2026. It was noted that a joint demonstration featuring both Akhal-Teke and Karabakh horses would significantly contribute to bilateral cultural cooperation.

Cooperation in training and international platforms

The meeting also covered:

  • Gene Pool Preservation: Taking practical steps to protect the genetic heritage of these rare breeds.
