BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 29. The Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, in cooperation with the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, held a Round Table at the Foundation’s headquarters in Baku under the theme “Turkic Heritage on the World Stage.” The event was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the brilliant performances of prominent cultural figures of the Turkic peoples at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts held in Paris in 1925,TurkicWorld reports.
In her opening speech, the President of the Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, welcomed the guests and emphasized that this year marks the centenary of the outstanding cultural event in Paris (1925), where eminent representatives of Turkic culture delivered remarkable performances. Mrs. Raimkulova further noted that, a century later, the gathering in Baku of musicologists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Bashkortostan reflects the preservation of the rich traditions of the ancestors, uniting generations and inspiring the entire Turkic World. She congratulated the participants for being part of this great mission and wished success to the Round Table.
The event was attended by Rector of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory Kamila Dadash-zade, Rector of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography Bibigul Nusipzhanova, Deputy Director of the Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan Irada Dadajanova, Head of the Department of Traditional Music Performance at the Ufa State Institute of Arts named after Zagir Ismagilov, Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Bashkortostan, pedagogue, and Chairman of the Bashkortostan Kurai Performers’ Union, Artur Gaysarov, and other distinguished guests, who delivered congratulatory speeches.
In the scientific session, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory Lala Huseynova, Director of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan, art critic Alla Bayramova, Doctor of Arts, Professor Ulkar Aliyeva, Head of the “Voice Research” Laboratory under the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, doctoral student Alexandria Sultan von Brüsseldorf, Head of the Academic Affairs Department of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, PhD in Art Studies Gulnar Abdrakhmanova, Professor of the Department of Musicology at the Kazakh National University of Arts named after K. Bayseitova, PhD in Art Studies Meruert Kurmanqaliyeva delivered presentations on topics such as Shovkat Mammadova’s performance on the big stage, Amre Kashaubayev’s success in Paris, the musical archives of the Turkic peoples, and the heritage of women artists.
Traditional Bashkir melodies “Ural” and “Bayyk” were also performed by Artur Qaysarov.
The Round Table concluded with the adoption of a resolution.
