BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 25. We condemn the Dutch Foreign Minister's statement that Armenians were allegedly forced to leave the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, the statement of the Western Azerbaijani Community reads, TurkicWorld reports.
Everyone knows that Armenians, refusing the Azerbaijani government's offer of reintegration and citizenship, voluntarily left the Karabakh region. Moreover, mentioning only ethnic Armenians in such issues and ignoring the forced expulsion of Azerbaijanis from Western Azerbaijan demonstrates discrimination on ethnic and religious grounds.
Meanwhile, it is unacceptable that the Netherlands systematically makes unsubstantiated claims against Azerbaijan. Rather than slandering Azerbaijan, the Netherlands should have fulfilled its obligations to decolonize territories such as Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba, Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten following the UN Charter and put an end to the violation of the rights of the indigenous population there.
The Netherlands, which violates the rights of the local population by refusing to decolonize, has no moral right to talk about human rights and humanitarian issues.
We demand from the Netherlands to stop the defamation campaign against Azerbaijan and show respect for the right of Western Azerbaijanis to safe return," the statement notes.
