Selection of candidates for a scholarship funded by the German Bundestag

Uza. A conversation was held at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tashkent to select candidates for the International Parliamentary Scholarships program of the German Bundestag.

Inter-parliamentary relations are essential in the multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany. The history of inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries is vibrant, and further development is significant for them.

At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Berlin, Uzbekistan was included in the International Parliamentary Scholarships program of the German Bundestag for the first time in 2020. The program further develops parliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and Germany, enhancing mutual cooperation in this direction.

– Under this program, 120 participants from 50 countries will have the opportunity to visit Berlin and study the German parliamentary system, – says Kai Gehring, a Member of Parliament for the Green Party of Germany and head of the Science and Education Department. – The goal of the program is to familiarize the participants with the democratic process of political decision-making. Representatives of different countries will receive information about world democracy, Germany’s openness policy, and local universities’ educational systems.

For five months, the participants will work in a team of German parliamentarians and participate in workshops, meetings, practical classes, and educational events at Berlin universities.

Applicants for this scholarship must be under 30 years old, have a higher education, speak German, and be active in political and public life.

– I participated in the International Parliamentary Scholarships program in 2020/2021, – says Jamshid Karimov. – I completed an internship at the German Parliament for five months, got acquainted with the system of the European Parliament and the mechanisms of its work, and gained new knowledge. Having returned to my country, I continue my studies in doctoral studies. I am completing my scientific work based on the educational system of the University of Economics and the University of Konstanz. I intend to contribute to the development of our country using the experience gained in Germany.
